The idea
A mobile app to listen to music together: you create events and shared playlists, invite people, and vote in real time on what plays next. Everything is connected to Spotify.
What I did
The project was built by four people on a shared codebase. My part:
- the Spotify connection (OAuth) and linked-account management;
- events: creation and editing (date, image), visibility, edit rights, members and invitations;
- playlists and user invitations;
- the real-time voting system, with WebSockets per event, and the end-of-track vote;
- the player built into events: device selection, Spotify queue, play and pause;
- navigation, detail screens and a good amount of cleanup and refactoring.
What I take from it
It’s my project closest to what I do at work: React Native and TypeScript, a real-time backend, issues, branches and pull requests. I learned to move fast with others on the same codebase, on the mobile side as well as the server side.
